Day 37: Keep The Momentum Going
Day 37 of Nutrisystem 2.0 got off to a lazy start. I did not want to get up when the alarm went off but I rolled out of bed at about 7:09. It was 34 outside so the temp upstairs was a comfortable 67. Downstairs was the usual 70, which is perfect. My office tends to be colder so I often use an electric heater to warm it up. I didn't need it for long today !
Breakfast was pancakes with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie yogurt. Morning snack was a 120 calorie chocolate shake. Lunch was green beans and a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. Afternoon snack was 180 calorie cheese & crackers. Dinner was brussel sprouts and a 250 calorie chicken enchilada. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake. Total calories for the day are 1140.
First workout of the day was the usual jaunt in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. I used the same settings to increase the speed at 25, 50, and 75%. Doing 2.8 mph with 8% incline at the very end of the workout still kicks my butt, even though it only lasts about 30 seconds. Who knew 30 seconds could be so long ! Second workout of the day almost didn't happen. I scheduled an interval walk that had a lot of incline, including a long stretch at 10%. I wasn't afraid of the programmed speed (up to 3.1 mph) but I just didn't feel like I could handle the incline. So I lingered at my desk scrolling through my phone. Finally, just before 6 I decided to just pick another workout. I went with 15 minutes in Mexico with Tommy Rivs. This was part of his recovery series and the programmed speed is only 2.2 mph. I bumped it up to 2.5 to start and once I got to 12 minutes left I increased to 2.7, then added another 0.1 mph every 90 seconds. Not gonna lie - 3.3 and 3.4 mph was not easy, but I did it. This gave me exactly 60 minutes on the treadmill, with warm ups and cool downs. I'm happy with the effort I put in and I plan to try the incline workout this weekend. It's part of the February iFit challenge, so I have to do it at some point. If I absolutely have to, I will lower the incline. I did this particular workout back in August 2020 and I weighed about 165 pounds at the time. I weigh a lot more right now so I know it will be a challenge. But hey - I am always up for a challenge !!
When I took my first look at my work list this morning I had nothing that I could close and that was frustrating ! However, I checked again later in the morning and was able to close out 5 projects. This made my morning and scored me a pat on the back from my boss and my Director. Always nice to have your efforts acknowledged ! The item that was stuck yesterday also resolved late this afternoon, so I was glad to have that off my mind ! Late this afternoon, my boss approached me about 10 new projects that needed a home and I took them all. I plan to dig into those first thing tomorrow, so it'll be a busy Friday !
It was a rainy gloomy day but I'll take rain over snow any day ! Most of the snow we had has melted and the daytime highs for the next week are in the 40's and even 50's ! I feel like we could get buried in snow in March so I'm going to make sure I have my pantry well stocked, especially when it comes to cat food.
I've noticed that this Nutrisystem journey seems a little different. Last time around I discussed a lot of past traumas and tied a lot of my past issues to the way my life turned out. It's different this time around in that I don't feel the need to "process" anything. It's like I pulled all the ghosts of the past out of the closet and let them fly away. There's nothing left to drag out and beat to death. I survived financial hardship and domestic abuse and today my life is better than it's ever been. I may be alone but I know I can count on myself. I would love to have some male companionship, but I'm not sure I could ever trust a man again. I'm determined to enjoy the remaining years of my life and if that means doing it alone, then so be it !
On that note, I'm heading for bed !
