Day 122: Pomp and Circumstance .. and a Surprise !
Today is day 122 of Nutrisystem 2.0 and it's the weekend ! I woke up shortly after 8 (thanks to a visit from hungry Abby!) to blue skies and sunshine. Great way to start the weekend !
Breakfast was 160 calorie waffles with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie yogurt. I didn't have a morning snack. Lunch was a chef salad & 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. Afternoon snack was 80 calorie cottage cheese & 90 calorie oatmeal cookies. Dinner was green beans & a 250 calorie meatloaf sandwich. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake. Total calories are 1020. I had 2 90 calorie cookie packs at bedtime, so total calories are actually 1200.
I spent much of the morning watching Coronation coverage. I'm not a fan of Charles and the Ho but it's a historical event and I do love a little pomp and circumstance ! I really hope I'm still here when Prince William becomes King and he kicks the Ho to the curb. That will be a day to celebrate ! I'm sure he was thinking of his mother today. Princess Catherine will be an amazing Queen and I think she will become just as beloved as Queen Elizabeth. I get why Charles had to marry Diana, because his heirs were the future of the Monarchy and the Ho was not suitable, but it's unfortunate he didn't take his marriage vows seriously. Not a good look for someone who is now head of the Church of England. Enough on that !
On a whim, I weighed myself this morning. To my amazement, the scale read 230 ! This after my waffles and 2 or 3 cups of coffee ! I try not to get too shook by my monthly "official" weigh-in's, because it's just a moment in time, but at the same time I know I need to work harder to stay on track. I can't take this as an excuse to continue eating things that are outside the Nutrisystem plan. I really want to get the bulk of these 87 pounds off before I depart for Disney on December 3 and that means hard work and sacrifice !
After last night's episode of low blood sugar my evening kind of went off track. I had a second handful of Hershey Kisses and I took 2 packages of thin cookies (180 calories total) to bed with me. So my total calories for the day exceeded 1200. I don't plan to repeat that. I also didn't take any vitamins yesterday and I skipped the mag & Meta at bedtime. I opted to skip all that today as well.
Today was the big day to try out the new lawnmower ! I had to wait until late afternoon as the grass had some pretty heavy dew on it this morning. To be honest, I was scared. I didn't want to get out there and look stupid while I learned how to use it .. lol ! I used a similar mower while I lived in my brother's house after the fire, so it wasn't completely unfamiliar. I brought it into the laundry room to finish putting it together. There isn't enough light in the garage plus I wanted to be able to sit down and study the book as I put it together. It was just a matter of putting the handle together, so it was not hard once I sat down and focused on reading the directions. It turned out to be very easy ! I popped in the battery, rolled it outside, put the self-propel system on the slowest speed and off I went ! Run time is estimated at about 70 minutes and I'd say I got less than an hour. This was not a surprise as I started with the largest part of the yard and the grass was very thick and very long. When the battery died it was actually a good time for a break, so I had my afternoon snack while it charged. I got almost the entire side yard done on the first charge and I did expect the battery to go quickly because it had to work so hard. I had the wheels on the highest setting but I'll lower them a notch next time I mow. Future mows will go much easier and much faster, provided I keep up with it ! Overall I am happy with the purchase. I may buy a spare battery just so I don't have to wait between charges. I'm also considering a trimmer, since a battery alone is $155 and a trimmer with a battery is only $195. It took just over an hour to get a full charge, which isn't bad, but it would be nice to be able to finish the job without having to stop and wait for the battery to charge. On my second round I was able to finish the rest of the lawn and still had one bar of 3 left on the battery. The grass was SO long ! I will plan on mowing it again next Saturday. I'm glad I got it done today because there is rain in the forecast tomorrow. Mowing the lawn was today's exercise. I had over 10,000 steps by 6 pm !
On that note, I'm heading for bed !
