Day 155: Ups and Downs

Today is day 155 of Nutrisystem 2.0 and my mental state continues to improve. I'm not happy with my job situation and nothing has changed there, but I'm trying hard to reach acceptance. From what my boss has said, it's unlikely we will have the opportunity to continue working from home full time. I'm continuing to look for other opportunities and will apply to any job that seems promising. I sent an email from my work account to my friend and she responded immediately. She wants to talk next week so I'm super happy about that ! I'm exciting for the opportunity to do something new but I will really miss my boss and the team I'm part of. Once I have secured a job for myself, I will happily recommend my colleagues as additional resources !

Breakfast was 150 calorie pancakes with sugar free syrup. I didn't have a morning snack. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt & a chef salad. Afternoon snack was 80 calorie cottage cheese & 90 calorie oatmeal cookies. Dinner was broccoli & 220 calorie rotini & meatballs. Evening snack was (too many) cookies. Total calories are unknown.

I planned on getting on the treadmill at lunch time (and was all ready) but I just wasn't feeling it. I opted to cut up my salad and pick up a little around the house and then sat down to start this blog. After work was no better .. I'll try again tomorrow.

I got a little bit of good news today, in the form of an email from my siding contractor. Turns out he made a mistake on the new estimate ! Whew .. what a relief ! The extra cost for the porch gutters & the basement access is only $860, not $2700. The new estimate is $42,640 and I accepted that. I was happy to see he admitted his mistake, as he could easily have said "oh, I'll give you a discount and accept $43k". I had said I was willing to pay $43k for the complete job and he could easily have just went with that and put the extra $360 in his pocket. This shows me that he has some honesty and integrity. However, he needs to work on his estimating skills a little and make sure he double checks his work ! Next step is writing a check for $21,320 before work can start. Despite the situation with my job I'm excited about having the siding done. I thought about not going forward but decided that it was the best use of my mother's money. I will still have $30k left in the bank when the job is done so I will not starve if I don't land a new job right away. If my mom hadn't died I wouldn't even have this money and it would just gradually disappear if I don't take the leap on the siding now. So I'm excited Lanina (my friend) wants to talk and I'm excited to finally have the siding project lined up ! I would love to work for and with her ! I don't think I'm going to pursue the job I applied for yesterday as it seems like the company is on the verge of bankruptcy. Their stock price is less than $2 and they're a Fortune 500 company !

Work was slightly busier today as some of my projects are finally complete and ready to close. I plan to take on some additional work next week since our team is falling behind and I still need to keep busy. I will take whatever work I can and try to squeeze some overtime out of it.

Hearing the level of enthusiasm from Lanina did a lot to lift my spirits tonight. That and the siding being resolved are 2 big weights off my shoulders.

On that note, I'm going to take a quick shower and head for bed.
