Day 156, 157 and 158: Weekend Vibes
Today is day 158 of Nutrisystem 2.0 and I've been slacking with my writing. I didn't really write anything on Friday and although I did write some on Saturday I didn't bother to publish it.
Saturday breakfast was pancakes with sugar free syrup. Lunch was 1/2 a pepperoni pizza from Walmart. I also had 3 peanut butter cookies from Walmart. My evening indulgence was a turtle sundae from a local ice cream stand. It was half the size of what I get at Williams farm for $7, cost 83 cents more (7.25 plus tax) and was nowhere near as good. I won't be going back, that is for sure ! I also treated myself to a 1911 Hard Cider. The Sangria flavor is so refreshing ! Calories are 1200+ for sure. Dinner was a 440 calorie frozen meal of mashed potatoes with gravy, mozzarella cheese, corn and chicken nuggets. It wasn't as good as the Stouffer's bowls with the same ingredients. Walmart in Central Square didn't have then so I had to buy Banquet's version. I also had some lemon cake and a couple more cookies. Not exactly a day to be proud of when it comes to calories. Sunday breakfast was waffles and another slice of the lemon cake I bought yesterday. Later I had the other half of yesterday's pizza and another slice of lemon cake. I also had a couple peanut butter cookies while taking a break from yard work.
I didn't get on the treadmill Saturday but I did get some exercise in the form of yard work ! I mowed the entire lawn and then took care of the weeds with my trimmer. It's been really dry so the lawn hasn't grown that much. I put the mower blade on a higher setting and it seemed like the battery lasted longer because the mower didn't have to work so hard. The lawn really looks nice now ! I also went to Walmart just after noon. I didn't "need" most of the stuff I bought, but I try to keep ahead with the cat food and other non-perishable staples. I have about 3 months worth of canned food for the strays (they get 1 can per day) and I bought another 30 pound bag of dry food for them. I think the raccoons eat more of the cat food than the cats do ! I also bought a big bucket of treats for my cats. I bought a 20 pack of toilet paper too, since I just opened the last bundle I had. The $212 I spent was rounded out with 2 pizzas, 3 Banquet frozen meals, 2 packages of hotdogs, 1 package of rolls, 4 cans of Bush's bbq beans, 2 bottles of sugar free syrup, 10 jars of baby food, 1 half gallon of milk, a can of whipped cream, a bottle of spicy brown mustard, 2 bags of riced cauliflower, 2 bags of green beans, 2 bags of broccoli and a cucumber. I didn't need any other produce as I have plenty for the week ahead. I also bought another jar of sliced kalamata olives and a jar of roasted red pepper slices. My biggest splurge was a party size bag of Hershey Kisses. It was nearly $14 but they will last a while.
I didn't really have much planned for Sunday. Around noon I went outside to rake up the remaining leaves in the yard. Now that I'm mowing the lawn myself I'm out there more often and taking an interest in how my yard looks. Once the siding is done the house is going to be just beautiful, so I can't have a shabby yard. I'm hoping to hire someone to professionally landscape next year. That will depend on how my job situation is going. I spent about 2 hours on the leaves and wow, that was quite a workout ! I've got about 95% of the leaves out of the yard now. I also put my new push broom together and used that to sweep off the stone patio and the sidewalk along the garage. I really wanted to clean the yard up since the siding work will begin soon. I think the crew will have an easier time without all the leaves and twigs in their way. I also filled in a hole on the side of the house that was created by the sump pump discharge. I had 2 pots of dirt from old mums and I used that to fill the hole. I'll probably have to add more soil once we get some rain and it gets packed down, but it's good for now. There is another hole out there so I think I'll buy a bag of topsoil and a bag of gravel to fill that in. I also pulled a bunch of weeds out of the patio and sidewalk. I have some weed killer that I can spray but I'll do that another day. There is still a small patch of leaves and I plan to address that another day. Once I was done with the yard work I gave the cats their lunch and since my feet were filthy, I decided to soak them and give myself a nice pedicure. My feet were dirty because I wore sandals while I was raking leaves and there was a lot of dirt out there ! My feet feel amazing now, so I'm glad I took the time for a little self care ! It also helped the bite I have on my left ankle. I think a tiny bee got me while I mowed yesterday. Same thing happened last time I mowed and at the time, I thought it was tiny black gnats. However, yesterday I noticed some tiny bees in the grass and I had a couple buzzing around me today, so it's possible these were bee stings. Hard to know for sure but I'm glad the foot soak made it feel better ! After I cleaned that up I ate the rest of the pizza I opened yesterday and then just relaxed. I wore gloves while I raked but still ended up with a tiny blister on my right palm. It's nothing and has already sloughed off. If I hadn't worn gloves my hands would probably be a mess ! I also plan to take some Tylenol at bedtime just to make sure I don't wake up sore tomorrow.
While I was raking up leaves I also picked up the glass panes from the broken window on the back of the garage. Amazingly enough none of them broke when the window collapsed ! That just goes to show you that things were made better years ago ! The garage was built in 1962 and the workshop (which is going to be demolished) was added sometime after that. I found a mirror in the workshop and I have no idea where it came from. It might be something that wasn't used when our house in Radisson was built and we just kept it for the past 21 years. The mirror itself is fine but the backing is water damaged. I'm going to look at it more closely and see if I can do anything with it. It's a nice oval mirror, so I hate to just throw it away.
I will say that this was a better weekend. I'm getting used to the idea that I may be changing jobs and I'm a little more excited about doing something new. I'm finding that getting off the couch and doing something is a big help ! Problem is I'm running out of things to do that I "want" to do. There is always housework to be done, but I'm finding I like outdoor activities better.
