Day 160: A Ray of Hope

Today is day 160 of Nutrisystem 2.0 and it had a rocky start. I woke up just before 4 am because the top of my left foot was itching. Looks like I have a tiny bit of poison ivy ! I got up to pee and put some anti-itch stuff on it and also took a Benadryl. It took a while but I was able to go back to sleep. Problem is when the alarm went off at 7 I did not want to get up ! It was very close to 8 when I finally got up and once I was up and moving I was fine.

Breakfast was the remains of the lemon cake and later, 160 calorie waffles with sugar free syrup. Morning snack was a 120 calorie vanilla shake. Lunch was a chef salad and the remaining 1/2 pizza, followed by the last 2 peanut butter cookies. Dinner was a 440 calorie bowl with mashed potatoes, gravy, corn & chicken nuggets. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake.

I managed to get myself on the treadmill for 28m59s during lunch today. In checking my schedule I did NOT have a 42 minute workout scheduled for yesterday, so I let that get in my way for no reason ! I didn't work out after work because I worked until 6. I had a project I wanted to finish up.

I noticed some unfamiliar cars on the street and it seems one or both of the renters in the house across the street are moving out. They were quiet and no trouble but I've long suspected they were dealing drugs as neither of them seems to have a job and there were odd comings and goings of out of state cars. That activity seems to have stopped and now they're leaving. If they are both moving, I hope that whoever moves in is just as quiet ! I don't know if I ever wrote about it, but the entire building across the street that housed the auto shop and 2 apartments is now empty. There are code violation notices on the doors that state the building is unsafe for occupancy. Someone was out a couple weeks ago and surveyed the property, so they may be planning to sell the building or lot. Why else would you have a land survey done ? Makes me wonder if the house next to it (which has been rented as long as I've lived here) is also going to be sold. I guess I'll have to wait and see ! The mother of the guy that lives in the house used to live in the condemned apartments and she moved out maybe 2 years ago. The dame with the 2 brat kids moved in after her and I was glad to see that train wreck leave.

Work is keeping me busy and the days are flying by. We still haven't heard what is going to happen to our jobs so at this point all we can do is keep doing our best. I'm finding it easier to be productive this week and it helps the days go by faster.

Here's another excerpt from the online article about job loss:

"Accept reality. While it’s important to acknowledge how difficult job loss and unemployment can be, it’s equally important to avoid wallowing. Rather than dwelling on your job loss—the unfairness, how poorly it was handled, the ways you could have prevented it, or how much better life would be if it hadn’t happened—try to accept the situation. The sooner you do so, the sooner you can get on with the next phase in your life."

I think I've accepted reality. As much as I hate to ask anyone for help I also reached out to my friend immediately. I'm glad I did that as it seems like I may find a job with her company. In a shock .. I received an email from US Bank ! I applied for a job with them on 6-1 and they want to schedule an interview ! I signed up for 6-20 at 3 pm and now I'll be nervous as heck until then ! I'll spend my lunch hour getting all dolled up that day ! I highly doubt I will get the job but you never know. Starting pay seems to be $140k and I can guarantee if they offer me the job I will tell AT&T to shove it and take the job. The title is Branch Banking Project Manager. If nothing else, having the interview will help me brush up on those skills, in the event the job with my friend falls through.

Well, it's almost 9:30 so I'm going to feed the cats, have a snack and then head for bed. I may also grab a quick shower since I put fresh sheets on the bed today !
