Day 182: Day 5 of Vacation

Today is day 182 of Nutrisystem 2.0 and I've resolved to get myself back on track starting tomorrow.

Breakfast was 150 calorie pancakes with sugar free syrup and an 80 calorie yogurt. I didn't have a morning snack. Lunch was potato salad and a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. I didn't have an afternoon snack. Dinner was 2 hotdogs and the rest of the potato salad. Evening snack was a piece of cake I brought home yesterday.

Yesterday was the 4th of July and I did indulge a little bit. Dinner was steak, potato salad and macaroni & cheese. Dessert was apple pie, a strawberry cake and a strawberry jello dessert. I also had a few margaritas. The day is over and done and that is that. I brought some of the jello dessert home and had that last night and this afternoon. I also had some leftover potato salad, but that is also gone. The plan now is to return to 100% compliance with Nutrisystem on Friday. I have 2 hotdogs left and I will eat those tomorrow. I don't have any other non-Nutrisystem items in the house, so it's a good time to recommit to the program.

Yesterday was kind of a sad day because we were remembering last 4th of July at my brother's house. Mom really enjoyed the day and we had no idea that 2 days later her life and ours would be turned upside down. We never saw the stroke coming and we never expected her to be gone a month later. My sister distributed more money from mom's estate so I have about $80k in the bank now. My siding guy emailed me today about getting his deposit and letting me know work won't start until the 17th, instead of the 10th, so $21k will be disappearing from the account soon. I feel a lot better about letting that money go now that my job situation is more secure. Still, I intend to continue saving as much money as I can to make some additional improvements and to ensure I always have something to fall back on. I went online today to see about a garage door and Home Depot's online tools would not let me price out and buy an 8x7 door. It defaulted to 9x7, which is more common. I ended up taking a quick trip to Home Depot, where I ordered and paid for the door in person ! The store associate told me they're about 4 weeks out with installs, so it likely won't get done until the siding is done, which is fine. I went with a classic white steel door with a row of windows. I opted for the best insulation, double pane glass and upgraded hardware. I also paid an extra $104 for them to haul away the old door. In the end it cost me $1,997.70 and I think that is a good deal. The installer will be calling me in the next couple days to set up a site survey. This was the last part of my planned exterior renovation for this year. I'd still like to replace my front door, rebuild the porch and have some professional landscaping installed. I'd also like new basement stairs at some point.

While I was at Home Depot today I bought some top soil and gravel to fill in the low spot on the driveway side of the yard. There is a dry well there and I had it filled in last year, but I see the ground has sunk a little. That was going to be my project on a cooler day, but I decided to just go ahead and get it done today. It only took me about 20 minutes ! I never thought to buy some grass seed. I will do that while I am out tomorrow.

Today was too hot to get much else done around the house. I did vacuum some of the carpet and put the air conditioner in the window of my office, so the day wasn't a total loss. Tomorrow is my insurance appointment so I'll shop while I'm out. It's supposed to be cooler Friday so I plan to tackle some of the items on my vacation list.
